Carmel studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, completing Bachelor and Master degrees. Most recently based in London, she performs oratorio, in recital and as a consort singer, dividing her time between Australia and the UK. This year Carmel will make her debut with Bach Akademie Australia and is a currently forming a new Australia-based consort, alongside soprano, Amy Moore. Carmel also DJs and produces electronic music under the name Karmel Jäger.

Most recently, in Australia, Carmel has performed with The Song Company, both on tour and in Sydney and several engagements with The Choir of St James. Recent engagements in London include Mozart's Requiem in Spain with Gabrieli Consort, Messiah and St John's Passion (solos) with Dei Gratia Baroque, Israel in Eygpt (solos) with Elizabethan Singers, Vivaldi Gloria (solos) at St Martin-in-the-Fields as a St Martin's Voices Fellow, Beethoven's Fidelio (chorus) London Philharmonic, and numerous film and television recordings with London Voices.

As a session singer, Carmel has recorded extensively at Abbey Road Studios and AIR Studios for films including The Avengers, Dr Strange, Jurassic World, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Kong: Skull Island, Star Wars: The Last Jedi as well as video games including World of Warcraft and So Let Us Melt.


Other recent performances include with Gabrieli Consort at the Festival de la Chaise Dieu, the female chorus for Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans with the Venice Baroque Orchestra directed by Andrea Marcon and numerous cantatas with the Choir of St James (Sydney).

Since arriving in the UK, Carmel has sung for the London Bach Society, the London Handel Festival, A Bach Portrait, in the Deal Festival, under the direction of John Butt and in association with the Academy of Ancient Music, a masterclass of Schumann's Liederkreis at the Oxford Lieder Festival with Sarah Walker, Alexander's Feast for the Richmond Choral Society, Messiah with Dei Gratia Baroque, Haydn's Nelson Mass and Jenkin's An Armed Man with the West Sussex Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra, a recital of lieder at the Victoria and Albert Museum and Bach's Easter Oratorio with the Guildhall Consort under the direction of Eamonn Dougan and Pavlo Beznosiuk.

Before moving to London Carmel was a regular guest of several Australian ensembles including The Song Company, Thoroughbass, Pastance, Cantillation, Collegium Musicum and Symphony Australis. An experienced chorister, Carmel sang in several choirs throughout her schooling before joining the Sydney Philharmonia Choir and later being accepted into their chamber choir.

Operatic roles include Junon and Hyale in Acteon (Charpentier), Cupid in Venus and Adonis (Blow), Una Damigella in Alcina (F. Caccini), Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief (Menotti), Berta in The Barber of Seville and Ernestina in Opportunity makes the Thief (Rossini).
